Part-Time Optometrist | Flexible 1–3 Day Schedule | Private Practice | Boise, ID

An established private optometry practice in Boise, Idaho is seeking a part-time optometrist to join its team. This is an outstanding opportunity for a doctor seeking flexibility, clinical autonomy, and the chance to provide comprehensive primary eye care in one of the fastest-growing cities in the Northwest.

The practice is seeking an optometrist to work one to three days per week, with scheduling tailored to the candidate’s availability. Saturday coverage one to two times per month is preferred but not required, and the owner is happy to work with the right individual to create a schedule that fits both parties. There is also potential for additional days in the future as the practice continues to grow, though additional hours are not guaranteed.

Patient care is centered on comprehensive eye examinations, glasses, and contact lenses in a relaxed, patient-focused environment. The practice primarily provides routine vision care, referring most medical eye disease to local specialists. For an optometrist with an interest in expanding medical services, there is flexibility to gradually incorporate additional medical care into the practice over time.

Doctors typically see 14 to 20 patients per day, allowing ample time to deliver personalized care and build lasting relationships with patients. The patient base consists primarily of adults while still providing care for families and pediatric patients.

Experienced staff members handle patient workups and pretesting, allowing doctors to focus on patient care. The practice utilizes Modernizing Medicine (ModMed) electronic health records and is equipped with:

• Optos retinal imaging
• Humphrey Visual Field
• Corneal topographer / wavefront analyzer
• Autorefractor
• Tonometer

The ideal candidate enjoys comprehensive optometry, contact lens fitting, and practicing independently while having the support of an experienced practice owner when needed.

Schedule

• Part-time opportunity (1–3 days per week)
• Flexible scheduling based on candidate availability
• Saturday availability one to two times per month preferred but not required
• Patient hours: 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM
• Lunch break built into the schedule

Compensation

• Guaranteed daily minimum of $550–$700, depending on experience and schedule
• Flexible production bonus structure
• Credentialing assistance
• Choice of 1099 or W-2employment arrangement based on candidate preference

Minimum Qualifications

• Doctor of Optometry (O.D.) degree
• Idaho optometry license, or ability to obtain
• Comfortable practicing independently
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills
• Passion for providing high-quality primary eye care
