Medical Optometry Opportunity | Advanced Technology | Eastern Iowa

A well-established, multi-location private practice in eastern Iowa is seeking a full-time optometrist to join its collaborative team. This is an excellent opportunity for a doctor who enjoys practicing medically focused optometry alongside an in-house ophthalmologist in a technology-driven environment.

Approximately 70-80% of patient care is medical, offering extensive opportunities to diagnose and manage ocular disease while providing comprehensive eye care to patients of all ages. Clinical interests such as glaucoma management, diabetic eye care, macular degeneration, pediatric eye care, myopia management, post-operative care, punctal occlusion, and specialty contact lenses are all welcomed and supported within the practice.

The incoming optometrist will work alongside an in-house ophthalmologist who performs cataract consultations and intravitreal anti-VEGF injections, creating excellent co-management opportunities for providers interested in surgical care and disease management. The practice also sees a high volume of foreign bodies, ocular injuries, and unique pathology, making this an ideal position for an optometrist looking to practice at the top of their license.

The practice has made a significant investment in technology and offers access to an impressive suite of diagnostic and treatment equipment across its locations, including:

• Zeiss Clarus ultra-widefield retinal imaging
• Cirrus OCT in all offices
• Meibography
• Corneal topography
• JETT Plasma II
• Virtual reality visual field testing
• Digital acuity charts
• Pediatric autorefractors and acuity testing
• Slit lamp video systems for all doctors
• YAG laser
• iCare and Goldmann tonometers

Dry eye management is a major focus of the practice, with providers utilizing advanced treatment technologies to deliver comprehensive care. Most notably, the practice is among only a handful in the country to offer the JETT Plasma II, a cutting-edge, non-invasive treatment designed to improve meibomian gland function, promote tissue regeneration, and address evaporative dry eye disease. This provides an exciting opportunity for an optometrist interested in expanding their expertise in one of the fastest-growing areas of eye care.

In addition to dry eye treatment, the JETT Plasma II can also be utilized for aesthetic procedures, including non-surgical blepharoplasty and treatments targeting under-eye bags, crow’s feet, and other periocular concerns.

Patients also benefit from access to one of the largest optical selections in southeast Iowa, with more than 1,000 frames available across a wide range of styles, brands, and price points. This commitment to offering a comprehensive patient experience reflects the practice’s continued investment in both its facilities and the communities it serves.

Dedicated technician support allows providers to focus on patient care, with doctors typically seeing approximately four patients per hour with a balanced mix of comprehensive examinations and medical follow-up visits.

Schedule

• Four-day workweek
• Monday: 8:00 AM-6:00 PM
• Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday: 8:00 AM-5:00 PM
• Optional Thursday schedule available
• Shared call schedule
• Saturday morning coverage approximately 3-4 times annually

Compensation & Benefits

• Starting salary of $130,000 for a four-day schedule, with a five-day schedule offering $160,000, plus production bonus opportunities

Minimum Qualifications

• Doctor of Optometry degree (O.D.)
• License to practice in Iowa, or ability to obtain
• Interest in becoming an active member of the community and participating in volunteer opportunities
