We are seeking a detail-oriented and strategic Finance Director to oversee the financial health, accounting, and operations of the Optometry practice. This role is responsible for managing financial planning, reporting, accounting, vendor relations, AND insurance revenue operations. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in finance reporting, budgeting, insurance contract management, and an analytical mindset to ensure profitability and accuracy across the organization.
Key Responsibilities:
Insurance Department Oversight:
- Oversee Accounts Receivable (AR) processes related to insurance claims.
- Ensure accurate and timely filing and reimbursement of claims.
- Manage and resolve insurance denials and appeals.
- Lead contract renewals and negotiations with insurance companies.
- Maintain and update accurate fee schedules in the practice management system.
- Analyze third-party payers to assess profitability and the value of maintaining payer relationships.
Financial Management:
- Collaborate with practice owners and administrators to develop, implement, and monitor
- annual budgets.
- Ensure the accuracy and integrity of financial statements, including income statements and balance sheets.
- Reconcile income statements with the practice management software to ensure consistency.
- Bookkeeping & Vendor Relations:
- Oversee accounts payable, ensuring timely and accurate payments.
- Manage and review financial agreements with vendors and service providers.
- Conduct negotiations and maintain communication with vendors regarding contracts and terms.
Technology (Optional but Preferred):
- Experience in IT systems and software integration is a plus, particularly in financial or healthcare management systems.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or related field
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in financial leadership, preferably in a healthcare or insurance-driven setting.
- Strong understanding of insurance reimbursement processes and contract management.
- Proficiency in financial reporting, budgeting, and account reconciliation.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and organizational skills.
- Familiarity with practice management software and accounting platforms.
Preferred Skills:
- Experience working in a medical or healthcare environment.
- Knowledge of insurance payer systems and revenue cycle management.
- Analytical skills to assess financial impact of payer contracts.
- Competency in Microsoft Excel and financial modeling.
- IT background or experience with financial system implementations is a plus.
Compensation:
- $90,000-110,000 (DOE)
